I purchased this camera because of the size and it certainly was useful for that purpose - very light and easy to stick in your pocket. However, the lens cover is very sensitive. The camera turns on when the lens cover is opened. That stopped working months ago. Just recently, however, when the lens cover is open, the camera now says "lens cover closed" and won't take any picture at all! I'm sending it back to Sony to fix. I was thinking of selling it before this happened regardless, because it takes very poor quality indoor photos because the flash isn't good. I've had much less expensive cameras that took crisper pictures. I will be getting a different camera for sure! Size and the wow factor of a camera this small does not compensate for the poor photo quality and craftsmanship.

Sleek design

Strengths: The sleek design.

Weakness: Poor picture quality inside and low battery life

I have been using this camera from past 3 days, u definitely need to buy extra 1GB memory, and i am honestly not satisfied with picture quality :-(

Sony really let me down .... The pics taken indoor has lot of grains, and in poor light its almost of no use!! day light pics are pretty good though.

Strengths: Huge & bright 2.5" LCD screen, very compact & slim body design, good control layout, quick start-up time.

Weakness: No optical viewfinder, relatively short battery life.

I bought this camera as a replacement for my DSC-W1. I was really impressed by the design. However, it does have its downside. You can't operate it using one hand since the slide cover is on the left & the shutter control is on the right. There's a noticeable lag when taking pictures in low-light conditions. Finally, you need to use a separate adapter when connecting the USB.

Sony DSC-T7 Great!

Strengths: Small and light. Quick response. Great styling. Excellent LCD display. Great pictures.

This is an excellent camera. Everyone comments how great it looks. The pictures are on par with other 5mp cameras out there. The only real gripe is the weak flash. The way I see it is...I'm not taking pictures of far away objects at night so its fine. This camera is great for getting those "in the moment" pictures. Very thin and light. Although its very sturdy, sometimes I can't help but feel I might break it cause its so small. Battery life is weaker then other cameras, but its still good for abt 1 1/2 hour of use on a full charge. Extra battery can be bought for extra $40, so no big deal. You definitely want to get at least a 512mb memory stick for use with this camera.

My only complaint with this camera, and it's not really a complaint, is that my spare battery from the T1 (and M1) won't work. It uses a new, smaller battery. My only complaint with this camera, and it's not really a complaint, is that my spare battery from the T1 (and M1) won't work. It uses a new, smaller battery. There is no way they could have made it the size that it is if it didn't use a smaller battery, though. I bought a generic battery for a spare, for about 1/3 of the cost of the Sony battery. I plan to buy the Sony soft case, but for now I bought a memory card case that the camera fits perfectly into. It would actually come pretty close to fitting into a Sony memory stick clamshell case if you gutted it... It is unbelievable just how small this camera is. You just have to hold it to believe it!
