I love this camera after experimenting it for 10 days. I've tried different capturing softwares from Adobe Premier to Ulead VisualStudio to MediaPro. Best Pro looking video: 16:9 wide screen with auto mode, capture with VisualStudio in minidv format (takes about 11 GB of HD). This is the interesting part. I found that TMPGENC mpeg encoder gives the best quality when converting to MPEG format....

Canon Optura 200MC Digital Camcorder - 2.5" LCD - CCD
Strengths: Handles well, excellent picture quality, sized about right for hiking, good monitor and viewfinder. Very good battery life.
Weakness: Poorly placed microphone makes getting good natural sound difficult. No lugs for camera strap.
I purchased this camera as a supplement to my GL-1, for times when I needed a smaller camera for hiking and camping. It is excellent in this role, but I wouldn't trade it for the larger camera.
