Strengths: Steady Shot Great focusing in full auto
Weakness: Shutter noisy ISO 1600 has some noise
I'm thrilled with my camera. It takes amazing pictures in full auto and the pictures in full manual are just as amazing. I have played with it for about 3 weeks now and I can't find one thing I truly dislike about it. If you have been a former Minolta 7D user you will fall in love with this camera. It feels like the 7D it's the perfect size for someone with big hands or small hand the ergonomics...
Strengths: Image stabilization,picture quality
I bought this camera because I have some minolta lenses and wanted to move to digital photography.I don't regret,I love this camera.About picture quality? See for youself public.fotki.com/Lacos... note that these photos are not in full resolution!
Strengths: Light weight, loaded with advanced functions, great picture quality at low ISO and accepts all legacy Maxxum lenses !!
Weakness: not pro-quality construction, high ISO noise, loud shutter release.
I was going to get the Minolta Maxxum 7D a while back, as I own a Maxxum 7 and 7000i and love the Minolta line. But the 7D didn't quite get it 'right' for digital work. This Sony A100 gets very close. I wasn't going to quibble any longer and am quite pleased with this camera. Haven't tried all my Maxxum lenses yet and discovered their 'true' focal length and image quality issues (analog lenses on...
Strengths: I love the "night scene" selection. Colors are deep, rich, beautiful and very crisp and smooth. the pictures come out professional, high-quality like, and i love the super steady shot.
Weakness: the flash could be more quicker/faster. When the flash didn't go off quick enough, some of the pictures were blurry.
I love this dslr camera. I HIGHLY recommend it. I went to my best friend's wedding this past weekend, and I was very, very, VERY THRILLED to be using this camera (because I heard so many good reviews about it) and it did NOT disapoint me at all (except for the fact, that the flash could be a little faster) BUT the pictures, came out BEAUTIFULLY. They turned out very High quality, professional...
Strengths: Versatility, Price, Adaptability, Wireless/TTL flash mode, Ease of use, Lightweight, Auto-Adjusting LCD menu, Steady-shot mode for daytime shooting.
Weakness: Audible noise of shutter, RAW File import format not compatible with Photoshop CS2, High speed images contain noise, Steady-shot mode not functional with night shots.
Overall, I am very impressed with my first DSLR from Sony. The A100 offers what I consider a very entry level price but contains many features that the average user will find very helpful. The Steady-Shot mode really makes the camera behave much like a point and shoot in Auto mode. For those with less steady hands, this will save you a ton in different lenses down the line. Sony borrowed (ok more...
Strengths: Many amazing features, surprisingly easy to use
Weakness: Stock lens leaves something to be desired
This is my first SLR, but I have found that it was an excellent choice. As with any SLR I tested or have spoken to others about, the stock lens is not the best, though it seems to be better than others. The camera is perfectly weighted - not lightweight and cheap feeling, but not so heavy so as to make it impossible to carry. The camera is very sleek and has provided me with some amazing shots.
Strengths: Take crisp pictures and is fairly simple to use.
Weakness: The flash is not automatic.
I received this camera as a gift because I wanted a digital camera with high megapixels and the option to change lenses. This camera did not disappoint. I have had the opportunity to use the Cannon Digital Rebel 8.1 and find that this camera is far easier to use and has and anti-shake feature which will be beneficial for me as I do not have the steadiest of hands!
Strengths: Large LCD Screen, Autofocus, Image stabilizer, ergonomic grip
Weakness: No strap connecting lens cap to body, manual flip flash, loud shutter noise
I am new to photography, but am impressed with how user friendly this DSLR was. I love how sturdy it feels. The grip is rubberized and fits medium hands nicely. Picture quality was much more detailed than the Nikon D80 we tried in the store, and $400 less! Plus it has image stabilization built in so you don't have to worry about blurry pics with this camera. I highly recommend this camera.
Strengths: Many
Weakness: None
I'm an average photographer and just upgraded from a Maxxum HTsi Plus DSL film to this Sony DSLR A100K. What an upgrade. This camera is compatible with my other Minolta and Quantaray lenses for Minolta, and the RC-1000 remote. This and the price helped in my decision to purchase this camera. Takes quality pictures with ease of use and quick auto focus. The LCD screen is easy to view, even in...
The Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 is a digital single lens reflex (D-SLR), and Sonys first entry in to this space by leveraging the technology coming from their acquisition of Konica-Minoltas SLR technologies in March 2006. It has a 10.2 megapixel image sensor, 2.5" LCD screen is equipped with a shake reduction technology, and an anti-dust system. Sony opted to use the more standard CompactFlash storage...

Consider the price/quality ratio in the current market and you will see that the well known DSLR manufacturers have suddenly been confronted with a competitor to be afraid of! Not only is the Sony Alpha 100 a pleasure to work with, it also gives great results.

The Sony DSLR-Alpha 100K is a very good camera, albeit a little pricey. While it feels clunkier than its competitors, it delivers very good image quality and a full feature set, as well as some nice extras such as image stabilization.

Offers features such as continuous autofocus and dust-removal, though its image stabilization lags behind lens-based systems.

Back when we posted our preview of it, we found a lot to like about the Sony DSLR-A100. It is a well laid-out, responsive camera that sports a ton of features (like body-based image stabilization), and is a blast to shoot with besides. Having now run a production sample (two of them, in fact) of the Sony A100 through our battery of tests, we're happy to report that its image quality and overall...

With more than a little help from Konica Minolta, Sony has successfully entered the digital SLR arena with their Alpha DSLR-A100. With a high resolution 10.2 Megapixel sensor, built-in image stabilization and dust reduction systems, and super-fast performance, the A100 gives the competition a run for their money. Despite a few annoyances, the A100 offers quite a lot -- and it earns my...

There's no denying the Sony A100 is an impressive camera for the money. Simply having 10.2 Megapixel resolution and built-in anti-camera-shake is enough to elevate it beyond most budget digital SLRs. Throw in a high resolution 2.5in screen and some neat image processing options, along with a kit lens which zooms-in further than the competition, and it's looking even stronger. But it's not all...

Minolta Lovers Savor!
Strengths: Great quality. Easy dials to use for fast maneuvering. Manual or auto control over the flash.
Weakness: You have to manually flip the flash up. Auto focusing doesn't stick. Dust.
I have suggested this camera to many of my friends and people I had never met before! It's a Minolta camera with a Sony name. It has a loud shutter noise, which I personally enjoy as do most people who use my camera. Whenever the shutter sounds, I feel like a got a good quality camera. The auto focusing feature, which I sometimes need to use for parties and what not, doesn't "stick". It finds the...
